WEMBELIEVE was founded by Zach and Kassi Wertz in Folsom / Sacramento, in honor of their daughter Wemblee, who has Down syndrome. We help athletes with disabilities, and people racing in someone's honor, get to the starting line.
Who can apply
- Athletes with disabilities who need help covering a race or competition entry
- Supporters and advocates who are racing in honor of someone with a disability (including Down syndrome)
What we cover
Race entry fees are the core of what we fund. Depending on the athlete and the event, we may also help with gear, travel, or other costs that stand between an athlete and the starting line. Every request is reviewed case by case. We fund this through donations and merch (100% of merch profits go to athlete sponsorships).

Please include as much of this as you can:
- Your name and whether you are the athlete or applying on someone's behalf
- Race or event name, date, location, and link (registration page if you have one)
- Entry fee amount (and any gear need, if applicable)
- A short athlete story, and, if you're racing in honor, who you are honoring and why
- Anything else that helps us understand the need

We'll review your note and follow up using the contact details you share. Depending on the situation, we either pay the race entry directly or reimburse the athlete.
